Terms used in the atlas

Plain-language definitions for mutation, evidence, and provenance vocabulary.

Actionable

A record with associated drug, trial, or curated actionability signal in the seed data. It is not a treatment recommendation.

Driver

A mutation or gene-level event believed to contribute to tumor biology in the source evidence.

Hotspot

A recurrently altered residue or locus observed across cancer cohorts.

HGVS

Human Genome Variation Society notation for describing sequence variants.

OncoTree

A controlled vocabulary for cancer type and tissue lineage.

Provenance

The source, citation, date, and transformation trail behind a record.

Recurrence

A high-level label summarizing how often a mutation appears in the seed catalog.

Research Use

The atlas is designed for exploration and hypothesis generation, not diagnosis or clinical decision-making.

Somatic

A tumor-acquired alteration. This atlas may also contain germline-oriented public records from ClinVar where represented in the seed.
